Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) is planning to develop commercial properties around its Phase-2 stations in eight locations to generate revenue and integrate transportation with urban development. The Poonamallee depot, which will service driverless trains on the planned phase-2 extension line to Parandur airport, has received a major boost with the opening of a substation to provide power for daily operations.
