Failure at the CTA: Mayor Johnson Must Remove President Carter

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), a $2 billion-a-year public transit agency, has been plagued by problems, including unreliable schedules, safety concerns, and a lack of cleanliness. Governor J.B. Pritzker has called for “new leadership” at the CTA, but Mayor Brandon Johnson has so far resisted replacing Carter despite the overwhelming demand from the public, aldermen, and transit advocates. Johnson’s resistance is a disservice to the city, especially working-class residents who rely on public transit. It’s time for Johnson to work with Pritzker to find a new leader who can improve the CTA and make it a reliable and safe transportation option for all Chicagoans.
