Former NJ TV Anchor Banned from Teaching After Pleading Guilty to Misconduct

Peter Thompson, a former South Jersey sports reporter turned high school instructor, has been permanently barred from teaching after pleading guilty to inappropriately touching students while employed at Atlantic County Institute of Technology. Thompson was sentenced to two years probation and surrendered his teaching license as part of a plea deal. The charges against him included endangering the welfare of a child, criminal sexual contact, and official misconduct. Thompson’s teaching career ended when he was fired from ACIT in 2022 after being charged. During the investigation, authorities discovered photographs of students on Thompson’s phone and received reports of suggestive comments he allegedly made towards them.

Home Depot Security Guard’s Killers Plead No Contest, Sentenced

David Guillory and Benicia Knapps have pleaded no contest to killing 25-year-old Home Depot security guard Blake Mohs in April 2022. Guillory and Knapps were shoplifting when a confrontation broke out with Mohs, leading to Kapps fatally shooting Mohs. In an agreement reached with the Mohs family, Knapps faces 19 years to life for second-degree murder while Guillory faces seven years for child endangerment and accessory charges. The Mohs family opted for this resolution to avoid a lengthy and emotionally taxing trial and expressed hope that the killers will use their time in prison for self-improvement and rehabilitation.

Man Arrested at High School Track Meet for Weapons Possession and Child Endangerment

Colin Williams, 40, of Johnson City is facing charges after he was arrested at Johnson City High School during a track meet on Saturday. Authorities say Williams grabbed a female athlete and attempted to take her to the parking lot, claiming she had to leave with him. Coaches from the Horseheads and Owego-Apalachin track teams intervened and detained Williams, confiscating a knife from him. Police subsequently found a loaded 10mm Glock handgun in his possession. Williams was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the incident and believed the girl was his daughter.

Parents Charged with Neglect and Child Endangerment in 9-Year-Old Daughter’s Death After Asthma Attack

A couple in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has been arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter for allegedly neglecting their 9-year-old daughter, Amy Lynn Modrow, who died following an asthma attack. According to court documents, the parents failed to call for medical help for over three hours after Amy began experiencing breathing difficulties. When Amy’s friend’s mother offered to take her to the doctor, the parents declined. By the time emergency services were called, Amy had turned blue and had stopped breathing. Doctors said Amy would have had a better chance of survival with earlier medical intervention.
