The Liberal government is holding discussions with the New Democratic Party (NDP) to secure support for the federal budget, according to Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland. The budget, which focuses on housing and addresses challenges faced by millennials and Gen Z, promises to build numerous new homes by 2031. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has yet to indicate whether his party will support the budget, having criticized it for not addressing corporate greed. Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre has criticized the budget’s spending plans and linked Liberal deficits to rising inflation.
