Nicholas Hoar, a former Fall River police officer, has been sentenced to 2 years and 9 months in federal prison for assaulting a man in 2020 and lying about the incident. Hoar, who resigned from the force after a jury convicted him of depriving the victim of his civil rights and filing false police reports, was ordered to self-report to prison in June. The victim, William Harvey, told the judge that he was traumatized by the attack, which occurred inside a jail cell as other officers looked on.
