Classic Petrol and Diesel Cars Could Be Converted to EVs, Expert Says

According to Daniel Forsberg, Marketing Manager at CTEK, classic petrol and diesel cars could continue to be used in an all-electric future through conversions. ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) to EV (Electric Vehicle) conversions are already available in the UK, but their high cost, often tens of thousands of pounds, makes them unaffordable for most drivers. To address this issue, CTEK has proposed a 10-point plan aimed at making EV conversions more accessible and affordable. The plan includes measures such as standardized requirements for conversions, financial subsidies, eco-friendly loans, and additional training for mechanics. Forsberg emphasizes the environmental, economic, and employment benefits of incentivizing EV conversions in the UK, highlighting successful examples in Sweden and France. By making EV conversions more affordable and practical, the UK can extend the lifespan of its classic petrol and diesel fleet, reduce carbon emissions, and support the growth of the automotive industry.

BMW Classic’s Digital Birth Certificate: A Record of Authenticity, Not a Guarantee

BMW Classic has introduced a new digital birth certificate for classic BMW vehicles that provides a record of the vehicle’s delivery status and first buyer. This certificate replaces the physical Vehicle Certificate previously offered by BMW Classic. While the new digital certificate cannot publicly display a car’s authenticity at car shows, it is intended to make certifying vehicles easier and can be printed by the owner. The birth certificate includes information such as chassis and engine numbers, production and delivery dates, optional equipment details, and transmission numbers. BMW Classic emphasizes that the birth certificate is not a certificate of authenticity, and the name change is intended to prevent confusion among buyers. The digital birth certificate costs 125 Euros, or $133 at current exchange rates, which is more than the cost of the previous physical Vehicle Certificate.
