A grant announcement event will be held on September 5th in Providence, Rhode Island, where U.S. Senator Jack Reed will join local and federal partners to announce $11.5 million in grants and technical assistance for environmental projects throughout the region. This funding will support local organizations working on high-priority environmental projects in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, focusing on clean water, healthy ecosystems, and sustainable communities.

Two Miami high school students, Lola Rhodes and Arabella Gutchess, have launched ‘Wonder Wells’, an initiative dedicated to providing clean water access to underserved communities in Africa. Inspired by their own experience in Africa, they have successfully built a water well in Kenya and are now working to empower other students to join the cause.
Radhika Fox, former Assistant Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Water, joins the Walton Family Foundation as a Environment Program Fellow. Fox will advise on clean water protections, focusing on communities with historical challenges in accessing clean water.
Cadiz, Inc. has signed a water supply agreement with Solstra Communities California LLC to provide 1,275 acre-feet per year of water from the Cadiz Water Supply and Storage Project to support the development of more than 4,000 homes for military and working families along the coast. This is the first time Cadiz has contracted with a housing developer for water supply. The water will be delivered through exchanges with regional water contractors utilizing the Company’s Northern Pipeline, a 220-mile natural gas pipeline originally built to transport oil from the coast to oil refineries.
