Following the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as India’s head coach, Abhishek Nayar is a strong contender for the assistant coach position. Nayar’s experience with Gambhir in the IPL and his close friendship with captain Rohit Sharma are seen as assets. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already initiated discussions with Nayar, while former Indian bowlers R. Vinay Kumar and L. Balaji are in the running for the bowling coach role.
Kentucky basketball coach Mark Pope has added Mark Fox to his staff, as the Wildcats continue to rebuild their roster following the departure of John Calipari. Fox joins Cody Fueger and Jason Hart as Pope’s three known assistants. Kentucky has lost several key players to the transfer portal and the NBA, and Pope has also struggled to retain Calipari’s recruiting class. The Wildcats have only one player remaining from their 2024 recruiting class, point guard Travis Perry. Pope is actively looking to add players to the roster, both from the transfer portal and the 2024 recruiting class.
