The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for rainfall in West Bengal, forecasting that a cyclone will strike the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh on May 26. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in West Bengal, with extremely heavy rainfall in some areas. Light to moderate rainfall will start on May 26-27, and all northeastern states will experience rainfall with an extreme rainfall warning in some areas. The Indian Coast Guard has deployed disaster relief teams and is monitoring the situation. Authorities in four districts of Odisha have been directed to undertake preparatory measures.
