Hoax Bomb Threat at Cochin Airport: Passenger Detained, Flight Delayed Amid Recent Surge

A passenger at Cochin International Airport was detained after making a verbal bomb threat on Monday, adding to the recent surge in hoax bomb threats on flights across India. The threat, which turned out to be a false alarm, caused a flight delay and prompted authorities to initiate an investigation. This incident comes amidst a wave of similar threats, with over 100 flights receiving bomb threats in the past week, raising concerns about aviation security and causing significant disruption to air travel.

Gold Smuggling Attempt Foiled at Cochin Airport

Customs officials at Cochin International Airport seized 466.5 grams of gold concealed within a passenger’s shoes. The passenger arrived from Doha via Dubai and was intercepted at the airport’s exit gate. The gold, worth over ₹ 30 lakhs, was discovered hidden within the soles of his shoes. This incident follows a similar gold smuggling case at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport where 1,390.85 grams of gold were seized from a passenger arriving from Dubai.
