Lettuce Eat: IU of Pennsylvania Club Devours Iceberg in End-of-Semester Contest

Student clubs on college campuses often have their unique attributes, and the Lettuce Eating Club at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) is no exception. With as many as 60 members, the club will gather for its end-of-semester iceberg lettuce eating contest on Thursday evening. Participants hope to earn the title “Head Lettuce” by consuming an entire head of lettuce faster than anyone else. The club’s main event, the “Lettuce Off,” provides students with a way to de-stress and have fun while enjoying a healthy snack. Across the nation, lettuce-eating clubs have become more visible in recent years, with social media references to groups at various universities. These events often garner headlines due to their competitive and humorous nature.
