Latvia’s national airline, airBaltic, has marked a significant milestone with the graduation of eight students from its Pilot Academy, who have earned their commercial pilot licenses. The academy also welcomed a new cohort of 17 students, signifying a commitment to developing a skilled workforce to support the airline’s ambitious growth plans.
Amelia Lohrey, a senior outfielder for Aurora Central Catholic, balances her academic aspirations to become a commercial pilot with her athletic prowess on the softball field. Despite a recent loss to Oswego East, Lohrey’s leadership and determination continue to drive her team towards success. With a student pilot certificate in hand and dreams of pursuing aeronautical science at Prescott’s Embry-Riddle in the fall, Lohrey’s passion for flying extends far beyond the playing field.
