Recount Process Nearing Completion in Tied Silicon Valley Congressional Race

The recount process in the District 16 congressional race in Silicon Valley is nearing its conclusion, with results expected Friday. Three candidates will advance to the general election unless the recount reveals otherwise. The initial primary results showed Sam Liccardo in first place, followed by Evan Low and Joe Simitian tied for second, leading to a recount request. The person requesting the recount, Jonathan Padilla, was a former policy and finance director for Liccardo’s previous mayoral campaign. However, both Liccardo’s and Low’s campaigns claim no connections to Padilla. Due to the unusual three-person race, the requestor will not receive a refund regardless of the outcome.
