The Central Railways has provided an update on the ongoing platform extension works at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Thane station. The track slewing work at Thane station has been completed, with tempting and blasting of the track in progress. The up slow line was declared fit ahead of schedule at 08:04 hrs. Local trains are running approximately 15-20 minutes behind schedule, but the situation is expected to improve by 10:30 hrs. A 63-hour mega block for platform widening at Thane and a 36-hour block for platform extension at CSMT will also take place, affecting local and long-distance train services. Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary train travel, and additional bus services will be operated by MSRTC and BEST.
