The Supreme Court has dismissed Karnataka deputy chief minister D.K. Shivakumar’s plea to quash a CBI case alleging disproportionate assets. The court, led by Justices Bela M Trivedi and SC Sharma, declined to intervene in the Karnataka High Court’s order. This decision leaves the CBI investigation into the allegations against Shivakumar intact.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has alleged that Income Tax (IT) sleuths are raiding the residences of Congress block presidents to tarnish his reputation and hinder their election campaigning. He has claimed that the IT department is selectively targeting Congress workers to prevent them from participating in the ongoing election campaign for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for 2024.
