Former India Pacer David Johnson Passes Away at 52

David Johnson, a former Indian fast bowler known for his pace and performance in domestic cricket, passed away in Bengaluru at the age of 52. He played two Test matches for India in 1996, taking three wickets. Johnson’s domestic career included 39 First-Class matches, where he took 125 wickets, including four five-wicket hauls and a ten-wicket haul. His impressive performances, especially his 10 for 152 against Kerala in the 1995-96 Ranji Trophy season, led to his selection for the Indian team. Johnson’s Test debut came against Australia in New Delhi in 1996, where he dismissed Michael Slater. He also played in the first Test of India’s tour of South Africa, taking the wickets of Herschelle Gibbs and Brian McMillan.
