High School Baseball and Softball Roundup: De La Salle Rallies, James Logan Wins Ninth Straight, Granada Stays Unbeaten

De La Salle Spartans rallied from a three-run deficit to beat Monte Vista Mustangs 8-5. Alec Blair’s three-run homer in the fourth inning and Joe McGee’s two-run shot in the fifth inning secured the victory for the Spartans. James Logan Colts held off a late rally by Mission San Jose Warriors to win their ninth consecutive league game 7-6. Villanueva’s single in the fifth inning brought in three runs to cut the deficit to one run, but Colts’ Vasquez struck out the side in the seventh inning to seal the victory. Los Gatos Wildcats extended their winning streak to eight games with an 11-1 victory over Cupertino Pioneers. Carter Johnstone went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and a home run for the Wildcats, while Donovan Freed had two hits and two RBIs. Granada Matadors’ Jake Sekany pitched a two-hitter and struck out eight in a complete-game shutout to lead his team to a 2-0 win over Dublin Gaels. Oakland Tech Bulldogs cruised to an 30-0 victory over Fremont Tigers behind a strong pitching performance by Kalen Thomas, who threw a one-hitter and struck out seven batters. In softball, Presentation Lancers remained undefeated with an 18th straight win, defeating Gilroy Mustangs 8-0 behind a no-hitter from Kate Munnerlyn and Hailey Nguyen. Gilroy Mustangs maintained first place in the Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division with a 5-0 shutout win over Sobrato Bulldogs. Granada Matadors rallied late to beat Foothill Falcons 8-7, extending their winning streak to five games.
