Deepika, a young athlete from Haryana, India, dominated the Women’s Javelin throw at the South Asian Junior Athletics Championship 2024, securing gold with a throw of 54.98m and breaking the previous meet record. Her training partner Poonam won silver, while Sri Lanka’s W.G. Nisansala Madubash took bronze. Despite missing the World Athletics U20 Championships due to illness, Deepika shows immense promise and is aiming for bigger goals, including the Commonwealth Games and Olympics.
