This follows two consecutive days of ‘poor’ air quality, with pollution levels exceeding 200. The deteriorating air quality is attributed to farm fires in Punjab, where over 100 incidents have been reported in the past week. To combat the worsening situation, the Indian government has directed state governments to implement the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 1, focusing on dust mitigation, waste management, and other measures. The Delhi government has also imposed a ban on firecrackers until January 1st.
