This specialized machine, capable of operating both on land and water, is crucial in preventing flooding and ensuring the city’s preparedness for heavy rainfall.
Chennai’s Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), water resources department (WRD), and Tambaram Corporation are working to ensure monsoon readiness by September-end. The focus is on desilting waterways, removing garbage and water hyacinth, and widening river mouths to improve drainage. GCC is also enhancing its relief infrastructure, while Tambaram Corporation plans to call for tenders for desilting and drainage improvement works.
Agrasen Ki Baoli, an ancient stepwell in Delhi, is set to undergo conservation work. The baoli, built in the Mahabharata era, is known for its unique design and has been featured in Bollywood movies. The conservation work will include desilting, flooring, and gap fillings.
