Allis Manufacturing, led by CEO Peter Rathmann, is dedicated to providing meaningful job opportunities for people on the spectrum, challenging misconceptions and promoting their capabilities in the workforce.
A group that helps people with disabilities and autism find employment in Newfoundland and Labrador has had a massive funding cut from the federal government. The recent federal budget cut $625 million from the Labour Market Development Agreement, which is used to fund community support organizations that help people find jobs. The program started in 1997. That extra money was added on top in 2017. What that means is organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador will lose out on an additional $16.5 million annually.
Lexie Bader, a double amputee from Colorado, is close to becoming one of the first women with her condition to obtain a Class ‘A’ commercial driver’s license (CDL). Despite losing her legs in a snowboarding accident at the age of 15, Bader leads an active lifestyle, pursuing modeling, competitive snowboarding, camping, kayaking, and traveling. Now, with encouragement from her boyfriend, Zach Heyne, she is pursuing truck driving as a career path that offers better job benefits.
