The Watchers, directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, is a folk horror thriller that has a lot on its mind but little to say. Despite an effective cold open and promising premise, the film repeatedly fails to build any substantial tension or depth. Overreliance on clunky exposition dumps, an uninteresting cast of characters, and an underdeveloped story ultimately render The Watchers a disappointing experience.
