Sydney Airport has named Harmony Boonaerts, a 19-year-old from Ulladulla, as the recipient of the 2024 Trevor Gerber SYD100 Scholarship. The scholarship, established in 2020 to commemorate Sydney Airport’s centenary, supports individuals from under-represented groups in the aviation industry, such as women, Indigenous students, and those from diverse backgrounds. Harmony, who will begin studying Bachelor of Aviation Management at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), is the third woman to receive the scholarship since its inception. She expressed her passion for aviation and the significance of the scholarship in enabling her studies. The scholarship aims to increase diversity and inclusion in the aviation industry and has provided opportunities for underrepresented students to pursue their dreams in the field.

However, his ambition to pilot aircraft persisted, driven by the desire to honor his parents’ sacrifices and inspire others like him. Mohammed applied to Alaska Airlines’ Ascend Academy in 2023 and is currently dedicated to completing his training with unwavering belief in himself. In the meantime, Alaska Air Group recognizes the contributions of seasoned aviators like Captain Julie Thiele, Captain Geoff Nelson, and Captain Rich Loudon, highlighting the airline’s commitment to excellence, diversity, and the pursuit of aspirations.
