Starved Dog Makes Miraculous Recovery in New Home

An emaciated dog, Nala, has made a remarkable recovery after being found starved by her former owner. Nala, an 11-month-old American bulldog, was found in a cage in Gateshead last August and was so skinny that her ribs could be seen through her fur. Her owner, Toni Rowland, was banned from keeping animals for five years for her treatment of Nala. After being found, Nala was cared for by Vets Now in Chester-le-Street and has now found a new forever home with Beth Atkinson. Beth has renamed Nala Penny, and Penny has brought great joy and laughter to her life. Penny loves going to the dog park, the beach, and for long walks. She also has two cat friends who she loves. Inspector Kirsty Keogh-Laws, who investigated the case, described Nala as the thinnest dog she had ever seen alive during her 14-year career.
