There is a renewed push to bring back the beloved “City of Champions” slogan in Edmonton. The former MLA, Doug Griffiths, believes it’s time to restart the slogan conversation, given the city’s recent achievements and the Edmonton Oilers’ success in the Stanley Cup final. The slogan, which was removed in 2015, was originally adopted in the late 1980s to mark the community’s response to the devastating Black Friday tornado and the city’s sporting success.
