Annual ‘Drive Less Connecticut’ Campaign Kicks Off for Earth Day

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is encouraging residents to drive less during the month of May as part of its annual ‘Drive Less Connecticut Climate Challenge’. The campaign, which runs from Earth Day (April 22) through May 31, aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote alternative transportation methods like public transit, carpooling, biking, and walking. Participants can track their progress through the CTrides app and aim to eliminate 425,000 pounds of emissions, 30,000 car trips, and 480,000 miles driven by single-occupant vehicles. As a new feature this year, the campaign will plant 10 trees for every 30 car trips eliminated, up to 1,000 trees total.
