Rockies Extend Worst Start in Franchise History, Suffer Loss to Padres

The Colorado Rockies extended their franchise-worst start to 5-18 on Monday night, falling 3-1 to the San Diego Padres in the series opener at Coors Field. The loss marks the first time a team has trailed in each of its first 23 games of the season since the 1931 Cincinnati Reds, who finished in last place in the National League that year. The Rockies’ offense struggled once again, managing just five hits against Padres right-hander Dylan Cease, who was nearly unhittable through seven innings.
