Whitehall and Heidelberg Townships Vote to Consider Property and Income Tax Increases for Open Space
Residents in Whitehall and Heidelberg townships have voted in favor of open space tax referendums during Tuesday’s primary election. Whitehall’s referendum proposes a 0.05-mill increase in real estate tax for farmland preservation and open space maintenance. Heidelberg Township’s referendum seeks a 0.175% increase in earned income tax over ten years for similar purposes. Both townships would join several others in the area that have implemented open space taxes.
