A fierce hailstorm wreaked havoc on Colorado’s Eastern Plains overnight, causing severe travel disruptions, flooding, and damage, with Yuma hit the hardest. The storm brought heavy rain, large hail, and flooding, and tornado warnings were issued in two counties. In Yuma, hail snapped tree branches, damaged homes, and stranded cars. First responders had to assist two people inside a pickup truck that was leaning on its side in the floodwaters.
