Mazda has unveiled the EZ-6 sedan as part of the 2023 Beijing Motor Show. Offered exclusively in China under the joint venture Changan Mazda, the EZ-6 will be available in both battery electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants. Details on powertrain specifications are yet to be released, although the BEV model is claimed to have a range of around 600km under lenient CLTC standards, while the PHEV is expected to exceed 1000km on a single fuel tank. The EZ-6 measures slightly longer, narrower, and taller than the current Mazda 6 sedan. It features a distinctive exterior design with a faux grille, LED lighting elements, flush door handles, and a full-width tail light assembly. Inside, it boasts a two-tone interior with a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and panoramic sunroof. While the EZ-6’s availability outside of China remains uncertain, Changan Mazda is exploring export opportunities. In Europe, Mazda recently confirmed plans to launch a new electrified vehicle, leading to speculation that the EZ-6 could potentially replace the aging Mazda 6. However, Mazda has not confirmed if the EZ-6 will be based on the new Large Architecture platform scheduled for rollout between 2025 and 2030.
