Digital Data Protection Law Framework Advices, Electronics Manufacturing Focus for India

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, stated that the framework for the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) law is in its advanced stages and industry consultations will commence soon. He also highlighted key focus areas for the next five years, including developing India into a global electronics manufacturing hub, achieving self-reliance in semiconductor chips, laptops, and servers, as well as establishing a digital platform for implementing DPDP rules.

Tata Electronics has joined forces with two Indian manufacturers to establish capabilities for producing advanced high-precision machines used in iPhone casing production. This strategic move aligns with Apple’s efforts to diversify its manufacturing base and reduce reliance on China. The machines, currently utilized by independent contractors collaborating with Apple, are expected to boost India’s goal of achieving $300 billion in electronics exports by 2025.
