Metro Stabbing Suspect Was Previously Ordered to Stay Away from Rail System

A 45-year-old man, Elliot Tramel Nowden, has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman at a North Hollywood Metro train station. Just weeks after being arrested and charged with attacking a passenger on a Metro train in 2019, Nowden was sentenced to four years in state prison for assault with a deadly weapon. Despite being released on parole in August 2022, Nowden allegedly violated the terms of his probation and was arrested for trespassing in January 2023. Police Chief Dominic Choi emphasized the importance of strategic deployment of officers on the Metro system, especially during early morning hours when ridership tends to be lower income.
