Kashmiri MP Engineer Rashid Granted Bail to Campaign in J&K Assembly Elections

Engineer Rashid, a Kashmiri Member of Parliament (MP) and former MLA, has been granted interim bail to campaign in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Rashid, who is currently facing terror-funding charges and has been in jail since 2019, is expected to boost his Awami Ittehad Party’s (AIP) campaign. His entry into the political scene has sparked controversy with some questioning the timing of his bail and alleging a deal between the BJP and AIP.

Kashmiri MP Engineer Rashid’s Bail Plea Reserved by Delhi Court

A Delhi court has reserved its order on the bail plea of Lok Sabha MP Rashid Engineer, who is in jail in a terror funding case. The court is expected to pronounce its order on September 4th. Engineer Rashid, who was elected from Baramulla constituency in Jammu and Kashmir, has been in jail since 2019 after being arrested by the NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. He is accused of funding terrorist groups and separatists in the Kashmir Valley.
