Marcus Pettersson Joins Erik Karlsson on Sweden’s World Championship Team

Marcus Pettersson of the Pittsburgh Penguins has been added to the Swedish national team for the upcoming IIHF world championships in Czechia. He joins Erik Karlsson, his defensive partner for much of the past season, who was named to the team Tuesday. Pettersson, known for his defensive prowess, contributed four goals and 26 assists in 82 games during the regular season. Meanwhile, Penguins winger Rickard Rakell has declined an invitation to participate due to a shoulder injury sustained during the season.

Pittsburgh Penguins Defenseman Erik Karlsson to Represent Sweden at IIHF World Championship

Erik Karlsson, Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman, will join Team Sweden for the upcoming International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship tournament in Czechia, scheduled for May 10-26. He joins Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin and forward Victor Olofsson on the roster. Karlsson has previously represented Sweden at the 2014 Olympics and the 2010 and 2012 World Championships, as well as the 2016 World Cup. The Penguins acquired Karlsson in a trade last August.
