CBI Granted Permission to Conduct Lie Detector Tests in Kolkata Doctor Rape Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been granted permission by the Calcutta High Court to conduct lie detector tests on four colleagues of the deceased doctor in the Kolkata rape and murder case. These colleagues, who had dinner with the victim on the day of the incident, have given contradictory statements, raising suspicions about their involvement. The CBI aims to understand if they have any role in tampering with evidence and what transpired in the hours leading up to the doctor’s death.

More than 1,200 phones were illegally tapped, and six individuals, including suspended police officers, have been charged in the Telangana phone tapping case. The chargesheet alleges that they destroyed evidence and illegally profiled individuals for political gain. The former Telangana Chief Minister is implicated in the case, with allegations that he sought to pressure the BJP in an unrelated case. The arrested individuals face charges under various sections of the IPC, PDPP Act, and IT Act-2000.
