The latest macOS Sonoma 14.6 update finally enables the M3 MacBook Pro to support two external displays, a feature eagerly awaited since the M3 MacBook Air’s launch. However, this support comes with a limitation: it only works when the laptop is closed. This contrasts with models using more powerful chips like the M1 Pro, M2 Pro, or M3 Pro, which can manage both external monitors and the laptop’s internal display simultaneously.
Apple’s MacBook Air is an excellent device, but the Mac Mini offers several compelling reasons to consider instead. It’s significantly cheaper, supports more external displays, provides more ports, and promotes better posture due to its flexibility in monitor placement. When choosing between these two devices, the intended usage should be the primary factor. If portability is essential, the MacBook Air is the better choice. However, for home or office use, the Mac Mini’s affordability, versatility, and ergonomic benefits make it the more suitable option.
