The driver initially claimed responsibility for the accident but later retracted his statement, leading to the arrest of the teenager.

A tragic car accident on Saturday evening in Del City resulted in the deaths of three people, including two children, and left two others critically injured. According to Del City Police, the accident occurred at approximately 8:12 p.m. on SE 15th Street near the 3100 block. Upon arrival, officers discovered a single vehicle with four passengers inside. A 6-year-old girl who was unrestrained in the car was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. Two other children, ages 7 and 13, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 54-year-old Helen Thompson, was also pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. A 9-year-old boy managed to escape the vehicle on his own and is currently in stable condition. A 13-year-old girl is critically injured. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but speed is believed to have been a contributing factor.
