Espinal’s RBIs Help Reds Snap Phillies’ Streak

The Cincinnati Reds held on for a 7-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night, snapping the Phillies’ two-game winning streak. Santiago Espinal had a key three RBIs for the Reds, while reliever Fernando Cruz pitched out of a jam in the seventh inning. Phillies starter Spencer Turnbull had another strong outing, allowing only one run through five innings, but the Reds offense picked up the slack in the middle innings.

Reds’ De La Cruz, Encarnacion-Strand Lead Rout of Phillies

Elly De La Cruz belted a two-run homer, Christian Encarnacion-Strand collected three hits and drove in two, and the Cincinnati Reds cruised to an 8-1 victory over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. De La Cruz also made a highlight-filled defensive play in the sixth inning and in the seventh, adding to his already impressive night. Relief pitcher Fernando Cruz earned his first win of the season by escaping a bases-loaded jam in the fifth, retiring the two batters he faced. Phillies’ starter Cristopher Sanchez endured a rare off night, allowing five runs (one earned) on four hits over just three innings. Alec Bohm provided the lone offensive highlight for the Phillies with two doubles and an RBI.
