Finland’s Ahtari Zoo will return two giant pandas, Lumi and Pyry, to China in November, eight years ahead of schedule. The zoo, facing financial difficulties, can no longer afford the pandas’ upkeep, despite investing millions in their habitat. The decision comes after years of negotiations and follows the zoo’s unsuccessful attempts to attract more visitors and secure government funding.
