Led by Minister Patty Hajdu, the groundbreaking ceremony in Nipigon, Ontario, marked the official start of construction for the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area Administration and Visitor Centre. This environmentally conscious facility will serve as a hub for engagement, showcasing the region’s rich Indigenous heritage and coastal communities. Built to Passive House Plus and net-zero carbon standards, the center will be the first Parks Canada facility to achieve such sustainable construction milestones.
