Floods Aftermath: Assam Grapples with Devastation, Leaving Thousands Affected

Heavy rainfall and strong winds brought by Cyclone Remal have ravaged eight districts of Assam, affecting over 41,000 people. The Karimganj district bears the brunt with more than 26,400 people impacted, while Cachar and Hailakandi districts also face severe consequences. Reports indicate one fatality in Karimganj and two missing persons in Cachar. The ASDMA has set up numerous relief camps and distribution centers to mitigate the crisis, while rescue operations continue with the help of NDRF, SDRF, and local authorities. Rising water levels in the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers and tributaries, along with landslides in several districts, compound the situation.
