The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (ESO) is bringing its music to communities across Alberta this summer with a series of free outdoor performances as part of its ESO Outdoors program. The concerts, taking place between August 15th and 25th, will feature a diverse range of music, from classical composers like Johann Sebastian Bach to rock and roll legends The Beatles. Peterborough Musicfest’s 2024 lineup boasts a wide range of genres, from country to alternative rock and tribute performances. The outdoor concerts, held at Del Crary Park every Wednesday and Saturday from June 29 to August 17, are free to attend. With 16 concert dates, Season 37 kicks off with Canadian country music star Tenille Townes on June 29. Other highlights include Metric (alternative rock), Tim Baker and Great Lake Swimmers (indie folk/rock), and Choir! Choir! Choir! (’80s singalong group). The festival aims to bring fans closer to the musicians with a stage that is being brought back this year.
The 2024 SummerStage festival will feature close to 100 free and benefit shows across New York City’s five boroughs from June through September. The season kicks off with a free concert by Anita Baker in Central Park on June 1. Other free concert highlights in Central Park include performances by Gary Clark Jr. and the Sun Ra Arkestra, Dixson, and Bomba Estéreo. Summerstage will also take shape at neighborhood parks across the city, with notable performances such as the 40th Radio Anniversary Party in Herbert Von King Park and a special Uptown Edition celebrating the 40th anniversary of Red Alert and Marley Marl in Marcus Garvey Park. Additionally, New York City’s long-standing R&B radio station WBLS will host its 50th Anniversary Celebration with performances by Jon B, Vivian Green, and others at The Coney Island Amphitheater in Brooklyn.
