Fleming College Suspends 29 Programs Due to Funding Shortfalls and International Student Cap

Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario, is suspending 29 programs starting in Fall 2024 due to a combination of factors, including a federal cap on international students and the elimination of educational private partnerships. The changes, approved by the college’s Board of Governors, will not affect current students. The decision comes amid a significant reduction in the college’s budget, which has had a profound impact on operations. Fleming College president Maureen Adamson said the college will prioritize enabling program completion for currently enrolled students. The suspension of programs follows the provincial announcement of quotas for international students, which has resulted in a 41% decrease in approved study permits for Ontario.
