G-7 Blasts China for Enabling Russian War Machine and Anti-Competitive Practices

In a joint statement, G-7 leaders accused China of providing material support to Russia’s war in Ukraine, including dual-use supplies that can be used in weapons manufacturing. While China has not directly supplied weapons, it has enabled Russia to produce its own, according to US President Joe Biden. The G-7 also criticized China’s non-lethal support to Russia, alongside weapons provided by North Korea and Iran. The statement condemned China’s ongoing support for Russia’s defense industrial base and called for the cessation of dual-use material transfers. Additionally, the G-7 expressed concerns about China’s anti-competitive business practices, such as subsidies for electric vehicles and renewable energy products, and its closed market for Western companies.
