Mercedes-Benz Unveils the Highly Anticipated All-Electric G-Class: The G580 with EQ Technology

Mercedes-Benz has finally unveiled the long-awaited all-electric G-Class, embodying the iconic style and off-road capabilities of its predecessors while introducing breakthrough EV advancements. The G580 with EQ Technology boasts a powerful quad-motor setup, delivering an impressive 579 horsepower and 859 pound-feet of torque, surpassing the performance of its V8-powered siblings. With a range of up to 250 miles and fast-charging capabilities, range anxiety is minimized. The G580 EV retains the rugged characteristics of the G-Class, featuring a solid rear axle, adaptive dampers, and a reinforced ladder frame. However, it introduces innovative features such as virtual diff locks, G-Turn capability for tight off-road maneuvers, and G-Steering for minimizing turning radius. To enhance the driving experience, Mercedes has introduced G-Roar, a unique sound system that mimics the emotional engine note and exhaust rumble of gas-powered G-wagens. The G580 EV sets itself apart with subtle exterior styling cues, including a taller hood, air curtain openings, and aero-focused wheel designs. Inside, the differences are minimal, with a focus on integrating EV-specific features while maintaining the G-Class’s signature design elements.
