The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the ‘Amazing Food Festival 2024’ in Phuket, a three-day event celebrating Thailand’s diverse culinary scene and promoting the country as a premier gastronomy tourism destination. The festival features Michelin-awarded restaurants, street food vendors, cooking shows by renowned chefs, live music performances, and opportunities to explore local communities. It is expected to draw 50,000 visitors and generate 35 million Baht in revenue at each location.
The Philippines hosted the inaugural UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Asia and the Pacific, bringing together government officials, industry leaders, and chefs to discuss the growing trend of food tourism in the region. The forum, co-organized by UNWTO and the Basque Culinary Centre, highlighted the importance of developing policies that integrate tourism with agriculture, culture, and rural development to maximize the positive impacts of food tourism.
