The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has announced the results of the Madhyamik 10th examinations for 2024, unveiling a comprehensive overview of student performance. The overall pass percentage stands at an impressive 86.31%, with over 1.18 lakh students securing a first division. This year’s results highlight notable individual achievements, such as the remarkable performance of Sudipta Roy, who topped the state with 697 out of 700 marks.
The analysis also reveals interesting insights into gender-based performance, with male students outperforming female students despite higher female enrollment. The success rate for male students stands at 89.21% compared to 83.9% for female students. A small fraction of students qualified for compartmental exams, with 8.33% of males and 10.65% of females qualifying. Among Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, the success rates for males were significantly higher than for females.
These statistics provide valuable information for educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to identify areas where interventions are needed to address gender-based disparities and improve overall academic outcomes.
