The writer, who has tried various fitness routines in the past, found her most enjoyable and challenging workout experience during a recent visit to Accra, Ghana. She trained in the small boxing community of Bukom, where she was immersed in the sport and motivated by the passion and camaraderie of the local boxers. The experience taught her the importance of consistency, simplicity, and the power of community in fitness. Despite the lack of state-of-the-art equipment, the boxers in Bukom have produced six world championship boxers, demonstrating that determination and hard work can overcome material limitations.

The swollen shoot cacao tree virus is posing a significant threat to the global supply of chocolate, as it is rapidly spreading and destroying cocoa trees in Ivory Coast and Ghana, which account for around 50% of the world’s cocoa harvest. The virus is making cacao trees unhealthy and affecting the dried seeds from which chocolate is made. Despite efforts to control the virus using pesticides and tree vaccines, the problem has persisted, and Ghana has lost over 254 million cacao trees in recent years.
