Despite its pioneering efforts in smart glasses a decade ago with Google Glass, Google has yet to introduce a modern interpretation with advanced AI capabilities. Meanwhile, competitors such as Ray-Ban Meta, Solos, Brilliant Labs, Oppo, and XRAI are actively developing and releasing smart glasses with AI integration. Google’s continued absence from this growing market raises concerns about its commitment to innovation and its ability to compete with the latest technological advancements.

Google’s big keynote at its I/O 2024 developer conference was mostly focused on Gemini, its AI tool. There were no hardware announcements, though there was a possible tease of something in the future.
