Tesla, the electric car manufacturer led by Elon Musk, has yet to communicate any plans to the Indian government under the new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy. This comes despite the planned visit of Musk to India in April, which was later postponed due to commitments at Tesla. The government has expressed its openness to all companies, including Tesla, to participate in the EV policy but has not received any formal communication from the automaker. Tesla has not responded to an email query from the news agency PTI regarding its plans. Earlier, Musk had confirmed his visit to India and intended to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss Tesla’s potential entry into the Indian market. However, the exact plans for a manufacturing unit or the strategy for selling Tesla cars in India remain unknown.
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, participated in the Arabian Travel Mart 2024 in Dubai from May 6th to May 9th, 2024. The participation aimed to enhance India’s visibility in the Middle East’s tourism market. The Incredible India pavilion was inaugurated by Mr. Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai, and featured a strong presence, including tour operators, luxury hotels, wellness resorts, and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation. India promoted itself as a year-round destination and introduced the ‘Cool Summers of India’ campaign to highlight lesser-known cooler destinations, such as hill resorts in the Himalayas.
The Indian government is set to auction approximately 20 critical mineral blocks in June following the general elections. This fourth round of auctions aims to meet the growing demand for minerals such as copper, lithium, nickel, and rare earth elements, which play a crucial role in clean energy technologies. The government has already auctioned 38 blocks and plans to auction over 100 more in the future. The mines secretary emphasized the importance of these minerals in the transition to clean energy and invited the industry to participate in the bidding process.
